The ingredients of health and long life, are great temperance, open air, easy labor, and little care.
Happiness is a ball after which we run wherever it rolls, and we push it with our feet when it stops.
As to happiness in this life it is hardly compatible with that diminished respect which ever attends the relinquishing of labour.
So even though I consider myself a fairly upbeat person, energetic and things like that, I never do very well on happiness tests.
